Every time I tried to install, either throughMicrosoft Update and manually (I believethe machine was running Windows XP), it would fail.Neveraffected anything I was developing, but it was very, very annoying. The Windows sign-off indicated the operating system was installing an update before shutting down, but the patch never installed. I select it, ... ...I install it, ... ...the page says the install is done and successful, ... ...I reboot, ... ...I return to WindowsUpdate, ... ...I check for updates again, Regardless, of all that I am, of course, continuing forward with the Framework and am keeping the current state of affairs. I am guessing that these are Optional Updates and don't show up on a system that isn't Activated as they haven't come through on another un-Activated image. After doing some googling I found this from someone else: In C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET" there is a directory called "Assembly". It took me a while to figure out what the heck that meant.
